On Saturday, December 2nd, the Wabash High School wrestling team secured the Wabash County team championship and invitational, going 5-0 as a team for the day.
Wabash Coach Jake O'Neill was proud of his team's early season accomplishment, "This was one of our first goals as a team. They've worked so hard and bought into our mission to progressively get better as a team." Individual Wabash County champs included Ethan Higgins at 106, Braden Brooks at 120, Anthony Long at 126, Jake Cisneros at 145, Noah Cressell at 182, and Blake Price at 285.
Keeping an eye on the future, Coach O'Neill also wanted to acknowledge the importance of his upperclassman, "Our seniors have been fantastic leaders to this young group. They will have more championships to come."
The Apaches earned the county championship by beating all Wabash County schools and earned the entire invitational win by securing team wins against Blackford and Southern Wells. Wabash High School Wrestlers moved to 7-3 on the year. The team will be back in action Tuesday, December 5th for a home dual meet with Lewis Cass.
