WHS Student Receives Educators Scholarship

HUGE Congratulations to Ashtyn Shemwell for receiving the Next Generation Hoosier Educators Scholarship, which is a competitive application based on academic achievement and additional factors. Ashtyn will receive $7,500 annually (up to $30,000 total) for committing to teach in Indiana for at least five years after graduating college.
“I want to become a teacher because I have always wanted to make a difference in the lives of kids. Being a teacher will allow me to achieve those dreams and help shape little minds while doing what I truly love," said Ashtyn.
A total of 627 students from 270 different schools applied for the 2022-2023 Next Generation Hoosier Educators Scholarship and Ashtyn is one of only two in Wabash County to receive this prestigious scholarship from the Indiana Commission for Higher Education. Needless we say, we are so proud of Ashtyn and excited he will be a future Hoosier educator and an Apache forever.
